The Phantom Of The Opera

The Phantom Of The Opera is back in Singapore once again!

I first caught this musical in year 2007 in Singapore. It's my first musical and I fall in love instantly with it. I like it so much that I was thinking of watching it again but tickets were not easy to get when the show was already on. What's left are all undesirable seats.

The great news is The Phantom Of The Opera is back in Singapore again. It will open from 16 July 2013 to 25 August 2013. Tickets are now on sale at Sistic.

Not to worry, I have already gotten my ticket. I was thinking of getting tickets for G-Dragon's concert when I saw news of this. Well, tickets for this is much easier to get than G-Dragon's concert and I really like this musical. It's not that had a decision on which to go for.

A preview of the song on youtube:

I am suddenly in love with putting links on videos from youtube. Please bear with me for the time being until I am over this phase of time.

Love you all!

Blind Detective (盲探)

So excited!!! Andy Lau is coming to Singapore this week!!!

Andy Lau and Sammi Chen will be in Singapore on 26 June 2013 to promote their new movie, Blind Detective (盲探). They will have a meet-the-fans session at 7pm outside Plaza Singapura and the premiere of the movie at Resorts World Sentosa at 8pm.

This is the trailer of the movie.

Seem like a very interesting movie. Andy is so handsome. What more can you ask for??!!

Haha... I guess from this post you can tell that I am a fan of Andy Lau. My disclaimer is that my opinion concerning him will be biased. Please do not blame me if you do not share the same sentiment as me. :p

This is the theme song of the movie, sang by Andy Lau and Sammi Chen.

If you are intending to watch the movie like I do, do share with me on your review. I may be biased on my opinion but I don't mind hearing an unbiased opinion from time to time...

Enjoy the show!

Haze Haze, Go Away...

Singapore is once again becoming a misty little island... The once a year affair is back again. Nothing uncommon but just more serious this time around.

Long queues are forming everywhere. Not so much for hello kitty, which just happen on a Thursday only, but for whatever shops that say they have stock for N95 masks.

Should I be getting some N95 masks too? I find myself thinking about that on Friday. Everyone in my office is rushing to get them. Maybe I should not lose out to anyone of them. :p

Lucky the haze seem to have lighten up over the weekend. Hopefully, it will not return ever again...

Drink more water, stay indoor if possible. Let's brave through this haze battle together, and stay healthy all the while.

We, Singaporean, will be whinning like a kid over this haze issue. But that's because we value our health over all other things.

A fun video to end this post with.

Smurfs!

Guess what I saw when I went shopping at Bugis over the weekend?

 photo IMG_2127_zps7d6a3570.jpg

It's the Global Smurfs Day on June 22 2013. I guess this mean the movie is coming out on that day.

 photo IMG_2131_zps4f58a9ec.jpg

Make a guess who are the smurfs waiting for you at Bugis now?

 photo IMG_2132_zps118b8b20.jpg

Answers out! Hehe... Actually you can already see Clumsy in the photo above. I was too lazy to photoshop the photo first.

 photo IMG_2120_zpse4a30b95.jpg

Birthday wishes wall for the smurfs. There is actually a photo booth there whereby you can take a photo and pen down your birthday wishes for the smurfs. The photo booth was not in operation when I was there. I guess they have certain operating hours. You may wish to go check it out if you are interested.

 photo IMG_2126_zpse1ac94a9.jpg

Lots more smurfs found on the birthday wishes wall. Not sure if these smurfs can be removed but please don't try to bring them home because they look so cutezzz... Good things are meant to be shared.

More photos of smurfs. There are actually just six of them there. You may have to wait a while if you want to take the photos of them.

Not really sure how long will the display be there. But since the global smurfs day is on 22 June 2013, they should still be there until 22 June 2013. No promises made! If you are interested to view them, make a trip to Bugis asap.

TWG @ MBS

Was looking for a place to enjoy a cup of tea and decide to drop by TWG at MBS. I won't say it was an ideal place to enjoy a quiet afternoon. MBS was so packed with people and all the TWG at MBS has a long queue.

Waited for more than half an hour before we finally got a table. I have to say this. The staff at TWG really need to improve their customer service if they really want their customer to be able to relax and enjoy their wonderful tea.

The service was slow. That is slow in taking orders, slow in delivery of the food, and even slow in collecting payment. No wonder all TWG has a long queue since they aced in providing slow service. Already been slow in their service, they will also tend to forget your order. Food was not delivered until you remind them about it. This doesn't happen to my table only. I saw another table that encountered the same problem. Something really needs to be done about their service.

Putting their service aside, their tea and food is really not bad. However, price wise, it's a bit costly. I don't mind eating there once in a while. Other wise, it will sure put a dent on my wallet, which is flat enough already. :p

This is their eggs benedict (S$19). It is served with homemade toasted English muffins topped with two poached farmhouse eggs served with creamy hollandaise sauce and a choice of smoked salmon or turkey ham. The picture shows the one with smoked salmon.

 photo IMG_1802_zps3a79c254.jpg

I definitely have a sweet tooth. How can I not order a dessert to make my day happy. This is chocolate fondant (S$12). It consists of TWG Tea’s warm chocolate cake served with a light custard cream and a scoop of homemade Vanilla Bourbon Tea ice cream.

 photo IMG_1811_zps100d4bb9.jpg

This is the cake from 1837 Tea Time Set Meal (S$19). It is served with TWG Tea and a choice of 2 homemade scones or muffins served with TWG Tea jelly and whipped cream or 1 patisserie. Obviously we choose the patisserie over scones and muffins.

 photo IMG_1808_zps09bb1d26.jpg

Our tea. Can't remember the name of this tea. The tea is from the tea time set meal. All I remember is hot water is refillable for up to three times for this tea.

There are so many types of tea available at TWG, all with very fancy name. We just pick a name that appeal to us. Lucky it tasted nice!

 photo IMG_1807_zps323fad91.jpg

To be on the safe side, we ordered another pot of English Breakfast Tea. At least I know how it taste like by looking at the name itself. Haha... This is not refillable. Really suitable for only one person. I think we only manage to pour out three small cups of tea even though the pot looks big.

Anzu Japanese Tonkatsu 杏子日式豬排餐廳 (Taipei)

Well, since I am on the topic on tonkatsu, I thought I might as well share with you this tonkatsu restuarant that I visited when I was in Taipei in March this year.

 photo IMG_1870_zpsaac33d35.jpg

Anzu was voted to be one of the best place to eat Tonkatsu in Taipei. Be warned! Be there early if you want to skip the peak period queue. No reservation accepted so you need to queue if you want to eat this.

 photo IMG_1871_zps027f01d5.jpg

Nice display cabinet just in front of the restuarant.

 photo IMG_1872_zpse9f7add1.jpg

This is for the tonkatsu sauce. There is sesame in the bowl for you to grind and mix with their special sauce. The setup is pretty similar to Saboten.

 photo IMG_1874_zpsac53a4cb.jpg

This is the salad. Too bad they do not have the sesame sauce that I so love at Saboten.

 photo IMG_1875_zps6554a7f0.jpg

They have two sauces for the salad to choose from. I can't remember what they are exactly. Taste not bad but the sesame sauce at Saboten is still my favourite.

 photo IMG_1876_zps62827afb.jpg

Here come my meal. This is great and price wise, much cheaper than Saboten in Singapore. This meal cost less than S$20 if I didn't remember wrongly. If only Singapore sells this kind of quality of food at this pricing, I will be eating this more often. But I guess I will be fatter then too. Oh nono... I am already too fat for my taste. It's time for me to lost some weight but this has been my tag line for years already... :(

 photo IMG_1879_zpsa06d4799.jpg

A close up picture of the pork. I think they used black pork for this. Suppose to taste better than normal pork but I am not an expert at pork so I can't really tell the difference. If they say this is better, I want to believe that this is better then. Hehe...

 photo IMG_1878_zps9c381ab3.jpg

They do serve a healthier option if you do not like fried stuff. This is grilled pork if I am not wrong. And you have the option to order brown rice instead of the normal white rice.

Saboten @ Changi Airport Terminal 1

Saboten is one of my favourite restaurant in Singapore. It is a tonkatsu chain resturant from Japan and you can in fact find their outlets in airport at different countries.

This is a must try if you don't mind all the fried food they have. In fact, they only have fried main courses... Totally suit my tastebuds, well I am a fast food lover too. What can you expect... Hehe... But this doesn't mean I have poor taste in food. :p

 photo IMG_1035_zpscfa3c639.jpg
This is the Saboten Special Set (S$25).

If this is your first trip to the restaurant and you really can't make up your mind on what to order since all the items look so similar, give this a try. It consists of a breaded shrimp, a mini pork tenderloin, a half-sized pork loin and a crab cream croquette. The meal comes with refillable rice, miso soup and lettuce.

The meal is actually very filling, especially for a gal. It is perfect for two to share in my opinion. You can order a refillable rice, miso soup and lettuce for S$6. A bit expensive but definitely worth the price. I always order a refill of the miso soup whenever I am there. This is like one of the best I have tasted in my life. Not that I have tasted a lot since I am not a great fan of miso soup but trust me, this is really nice. There is this sesame sauce for the lettuce. A perfect pair in hand. Not to be miss.

The tonkatsu comes with a special tonkatsu sauce made from scratch using onions, tomatoes, apples and carrots together with over 10 different spices. You will need to grind the sesame into fine powder and mix with the sauce. The tonkatsu itself is quite bland so you will definitely need to dip them in the sauce. If you do not like the sauce, I guess you may have to settle with chilli sauce then.

Finally, down to the main item of the main. The tonkatsu is not over fried. Crispy and tender and it doesn't taste too oily. Well, eat it while it's hot. I can't promise it won't taste oily if you leave it there for too long. Personally, my favourite is the shrimp. Pork is a bit tough for my teeth. I am an old girl so I prefer chicken over pork. They sell chicken too. Crab cream croquette is not something I will re-order again. I don't like my food in cream form. I know I am a hard girl to please when it comes to food. Not too tough and not too soft.

Lettuce

Potato salad.

Some of the meals will come with this salad. It's yummy and really quite small. Hehe...

Below are photos of some of the other food that I have ordered. Can't really rememer the details and price so we just have to settle with photos only.

Last but not the least. A scope of green tea ice cream for dessert.

I am back!

I am back!

I do apologise for being away for an extended period of time without any notice.

What's done has been done. I am now back again, glad to be able to share with you all the little things that has been happening in my life.
