Anzu Japanese Tonkatsu 杏子日式豬排餐廳 (Taipei)

Well, since I am on the topic on tonkatsu, I thought I might as well share with you this tonkatsu restuarant that I visited when I was in Taipei in March this year.

Anzu was voted to be one of the best place to eat Tonkatsu in Taipei. Be warned! Be there early if you want to skip the peak period queue. No reservation accepted so you need to queue if you want to eat this.

Nice display cabinet just in front of the restuarant.

This is for the tonkatsu sauce. There is sesame in the bowl for you to grind and mix with their special sauce. The setup is pretty similar to Saboten.

This is the salad. Too bad they do not have the sesame sauce that I so love at Saboten.

They have two sauces for the salad to choose from. I can't remember what they are exactly. Taste not bad but the sesame sauce at Saboten is still my favourite.

Here come my meal. This is great and price wise, much cheaper than Saboten in Singapore. This meal cost less than S$20 if I didn't remember wrongly. If only Singapore sells this kind of quality of food at this pricing, I will be eating this more often. But I guess I will be fatter then too. Oh nono... I am already too fat for my taste. It's time for me to lost some weight but this has been my tag line for years already... :(

A close up picture of the pork. I think they used black pork for this. Suppose to taste better than normal pork but I am not an expert at pork so I can't really tell the difference. If they say this is better, I want to believe that this is better then. Hehe...

They do serve a healthier option if you do not like fried stuff. This is grilled pork if I am not wrong. And you have the option to order brown rice instead of the normal white rice.
